Millions of people over the years have been exposed to asbestos at work. Asbestos is a naturally occuring mineral, which is made up of incredibly small fibres that can be very harmful when inhaled causing damaging to the lungs by making tiny cuts in the tissue. The danger with asbestos is that symptoms generally don't become evident until a while after exposure and can lead to Industrial Diseases such as asbestosis, mesothelioma, lung cancer and pleural plaques.
Asbestos has now been banned from use however if you have worked in industries such as engineering, shipbuliding or carpentry you may have been exposed as asbestos was widely used. Employers may have not provided any or inadequate protection which could lead to symptoms such as chest pain, coughing or shortness of breath. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms it is extremely important you spak to your GP immediately.
At Kinetic Law we understand that a claim of this nature is extremely delicate as unfortunately there is no treatment for asbestos related diseases. The current treatment that is offered is mainly to keep the condition stable. The claim that you maybe looking to pursue may be from as far back as the 1960's and the company may no longer exist however our Industrial Disease team can still help you pursue a claim for compensation by tracing the insurers of the company you worked for.
If you have ever worked with asbestos, speak to a member of our Industrial Disease team or request a call back.
